Joshua Tree Fall 2013

Being a new member and having a great time on previous CCC weekend trips, I was looking forward to the Fall Joshua Tree trip. We had a great week with warm sunny days, cool nights and a lot of climbing. Mark, Lea and I met up with Paul and Bas climbed on Sunday at Intersection Rock.  Collectively, we climbed:

Chris on Lead

Monday we met up with Fiona, Nola, Chris and Carol. We set sail for a 3 hour tour at an area called Gilligan’s Island. Collectively, we climbed:

Tuesday Chris, Lea, Paul and I went to Split Rock. Chris boldly led the Continum, a very pumpy  5.8. Paul lead Sandblast, 5.7, while Lea and I set up Invisibility Lessons 5.9 on TR. Later in the day we moved to Echo Rock. Lea pointed out a climb called Eff Four, a 5.4 claimed by Lea, as my first Jtree lead. After the climb we discovered it was a 5.6, sandbagged!!! Chris and Paul did Stichten Quit 5.7. The rest of the crew went to Trash Can and Thin Wall for some bumper belays:

Wednesday the group went to The Real Hidden Valley and climbed Sail Away, 5.8, and Wild Wind 5.9.

Thursday the 3 amigos were left, Mark, Lea and I, as everyone headed to Thanksgiving dinners. We started on Hobit Roof, 5.10d in the Hidden Valley. We also did Skinny Dip and Grand Theft Avocado, both 5.7.

Friday we went to Indian Cove for some bumper belays. The list includes:

The week was terrific filled with great climbing and hanging with good people. I look forward to next year.
