Tuolumne Meadows July 2015

Jim on Dark Side Dome

We had another amazing trip to Tuolumne Meadows last weekend. The weather, the people, and the climbing coalesced into one of the best cragging days I've had with the club. Saturday arrived with sunny skies and an eager crew yearning to pull down on some sweet Tuolumne Knobs. Of course some folks couldn't help but give in to Cathedral Peak's temptation. But the rest of us followed Joe Denicola, Harrison Hood, and other old schoolers to the River Wall and Dark Side Dome. And of course Ed was right there to keep the motivational stoke burning strongly all day. It was nice to walk a little and escape the Supertopo walls. We found River Wall and Dark Side dome to have great adventure climbing that was suprisngly well protected for Tuolumne standards. With our crew, we led and topropped everything we could from 5.5s to 11b runouts. The day ended with a beer in the Meadows and a great sunset. Good thing the season's not over yet!
